Jeff, Melissa & Camden: It's Like a Heat Wave...

That classic tune was the theme of our vacation this year. We spent last week at the beach. As luck would have it, this coincided with the start of "Heat Wave 2007," as this weather streak has been dubbed by the news media. Record-breaking heat has been pounding the Southeast. Every day we were at the beach the temperature was 100 degrees or higher with heat indices ranging from 110 to a "balmy" 120. Wow! It was so hot that in a week's time we spent maybe a total of 1.5 hours actually out on the beach. Most of our time was spent in the pool or trying to find a nice air-conditioned place to hang out. Regardless of the heat, though, it was still nice to have a week away. Here are a few pictures of our few adventures outside. Please excuse the poor quality of some of the pics. It was so hot and humid that the camera lens would continually fog up.
